Our Junior section is small but thriving and offers a warm, welcoming, and friendly atmosphere. We centre the player at the heart of everything we do and welcome players of all abilities, from those who have experience of playing at school to those who have never picked up a stick. Our coaches aim to create a positive and supportive environment, ensuring sessions challenge players to improve and develop their skills, while remaining fun and enjoyable.
Ultimately, our goal is to provide a safe, inclusive place where juniors can enjoy and develop a passion for sport that will stay with them as they grow.
Our Juniors range in age from 6-18. Under 10s and 12s take part in tournaments throughout the term, while older players are given the opportunity to play competitive hockey in both league and cup competitions. In the 25/26 season, our Under 16 girls are competing in the YNE Tier 1 league, and our Under 14 boys are competing in the YNE Tier 2 league. Those aged 13+ also have the potential of joining the senior teams and training to gain further experience.
In the 24/25 season, our Under 10 boys and girls both won the regional In2Hockey tournament. Our Under 14 girls reached the quarter final of England Hockey National Cup competition and were winners of their regional YNE Tier 1 group.
Training takes place Sunday mornings at Queen Elizabeth High School, Hexham and sessions last 75 mins. Sessions are mixed gender and are split by age group so they can be aimed appropriately in terms of ability.
Our season runs from September - Easter. At the end of the season we offer Pay & Play sessions until the end of June in which players are able to take part in informal social matches among their age group.

What you will need
Players will need to bring a water bottle and weather appropriate clothing. Hockey is an all weather sport so layers, waterproofs, and gloves are essential during the winter months!
We ask that all players wear shin pads and a gum shield. We can provide sticks and shin pads for new players. Hockey shoes are recommended as they offer more protection than trainers but not compulsory.
Club hoodies, socks, and bobble hats are available to buy if your player would like them. Team shirts are provided for matches but can also be purchased.
We ask that parents:
Our club relies on a small group of volunteers - extra support is always welcome! This can be as small as helping clear up after sessions, moving goals, or helping with transport for matches, or by getting more involved in the running of the club through coaching, or helping with admin and organisation. If you'd like to get involved in any capacity please get in touch.
If you're interested in joining our club we'd love to hear from you! Members are welcome to join any time during the season.
