Tynedale Hockey club is located in Hexham in the south west of Northumberland. We are a friendly, relaxed club, welcoming players of all ability. Currently, we have one Ladies team, two Men's teams, and a thriving Junior section catering for ages 6-18. We have around 200 members in total, including 130 juniors.
The club was founded in the 1890s, playing for many years on grass at Tynedale Sports club before relocating to an Astroturf pitch at Queen Elizabeth High School in the 1990s. In 2021, we benefited from a large redevelopment of the school and have since been able to enjoy the use of a new all weather sand dressed pitch as our home venue.
The Junior section began in 2014 and has grown year on year. 24/25 was our most successful season to date with teams in multiple age groups winning regional competitions.
Back to Hockey
Back to Hockey has been running for 10 years and is aimed at adults who either haven't played for many years and are looking to rediscover the sport, or those who have never played and simply want to give it a go. The sessions are very informal, made up of fun, casual, small-sided games that are a great and accessible way to play sport and meet new people. If you're new to hockey, there's no need to worry about not knowing the rules or making mistakes - these are both hallmarks of Back to Hockey!
There are two sessions a week which take place at Queen Elizabeth High School: a women's session on Tuesdays, 6:30-7:30pm, and a mixed session on Wednesdays, 7:00-8:00pm. For more information please use the contact form on the home page to get in touch.
